Terms of Use
Track ID Deck · Last updated: 27 October 2026
The parts most likely to affect you: renaming, moving and deleting files cannot be undone (section 4). Each identification uses a credit, even when no match is found (section 6). Unused credits can be refunded within 7 days of buying them (section 7). We limit what we are responsible for as far as the law allows (sections 4 and 10), and you cover our costs if you misuse the App (section 11).
1. Who we are
Track ID Deck — the Android app (“the App”) and the website at trackidentify.com (“the website”) — is a trading name of Ozayr Basseer, who runs it as a sole proprietor in South Africa (“we”, “us”). Track ID Deck is not a registered company.

- Website: trackidentify.com
2. Agreeing to these Terms
These Terms apply when you use the App or the website. By tapping “I agree” in the App, or by using the App or the website, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the App or the website. You must be 18 or older to use the App or the website, or to buy credits.
3. What the App and the website do
The App plays and organises audio files that are already on your device. It tidies filenames, reads and writes the tags inside those files, sorts them into playlists and, when you tell it to, renames, moves and deletes files. The website names and renames audio files you open in your browser.
Both offer an optional paid Identify feature. It sends short clips of a song you choose — or the whole file, when clips cannot be cut or used — to a music-recognition service, which suggests an artist and title.
Neither the App nor the website downloads, streams or distributes music, or gets audio from anywhere else. They only work with files you already have. Track ID Deck is not connected with WhatsApp or any other app whose files it can name.
4. Your files are your responsibility
Renaming, moving and deleting files changes or removes data on your device, and deleting is permanent. Keep backups of anything you care about, and do not use the App on files you cannot afford to lose. We are not responsible for files that are lost, damaged, deleted or wrongly named while you use the App, unless that was caused by our gross negligence or deliberate wrongdoing, or the law does not allow us to exclude that responsibility.
5. Identification is not guaranteed
The Identify feature depends on a music-recognition service. It may not recognise a song, or may suggest the wrong artist or title, and a wrong suggestion can lead to a file being named wrongly. Always check a suggested name before you apply it.
6. Credits and prices
- Identifying a song uses one credit. A credit is used even when no match is found, because the lookup costs us either way. If the recognition service itself fails, no credit is used.
- Credits are sold in one-time packs of 20, and you may buy as many packs as you need. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel. We no longer sell a monthly subscription; if you have one from before, it is covered below.
- To stop automated fraud, a brand-new account can buy up to 60 credits in its first day. The limit lifts by itself after that. A purchase over the limit is refused before any credits are given, and Google Play refunds it automatically.
- Credits you pay for stay valid for three years from the date of the purchase they came from. Spending always uses the credits that expire soonest first.
- Sign-up gift. A new account made by signing in with Google in the App may be given 5 free credits, once per Google account and once per phone, on phones that pass Google Play’s strongest integrity check. Free credits expire 30 days after they are given, cannot be refunded or exchanged for money, and are not covered by the 7-day refund right in section 7. We may refuse or take back free credits obtained by misusing the offer, for example with several accounts on one phone, and may change or end the offer at any time; credits already given keep their expiry date.
- Visualiser packs. The App also sells styles for its visualiser, in packs or all together, as one-time purchases through Google Play. You need to be signed in to buy one. A pack belongs to the account that bought it and stays with it for as long as the account exists. A pack that is refunded or charged back is removed. The ten styles that come with the App stay free.
- The price shown before you pay is the full price. Purchases in the App are processed by Google Play under Google’s terms; purchases on the website are processed by Paystack.
- Google Play or Paystack emails you a receipt for every payment; keep it as your record of the purchase. If you ask, we will also confirm by email which credits a purchase gave you.
- If you still have a subscription from before we stopped selling them, it renews every month until you cancel it, and you can cancel at any time: in Google Play for one bought in the App (in the App, Settings → Account → Subscription → Manage takes you there), or on the website for one bought there. It then does not renew again, and the credits you already have stay valid.
- Deleting your account permanently removes the credits on it.
7. Cancelling a purchase, and refunds
- You may cancel a credit pack, or an older subscription payment, within 7 days of paying for it and get your money back in full, as long as you have not used any of the credits it gave you. Once you use one of those credits, you have asked us to start providing the service, and this 7-day right ends for that purchase.
- For a purchase in the App, you can also ask Google Play for a refund yourself within 48 hours of buying. Otherwise, email trackiddeck@gmail.com with the email address or device ID the credits are on and the date you bought them. The steps are set out below.
- If a purchase is refunded or charged back after some of its credits were used, we take back what is left of its credits, and the credits that were already used are taken from any other credits on your account. Anything still outstanding after that is recorded as credits you owe, and your balance shows as a negative number until it is cleared.
- While you owe credits, identifying is switched off on your account. Buying credits clears what you owe first, and identifying works again as soon as the balance is back to nil or above. Playing music, renaming files from what they already say, and everything else that does not cost a lookup keep working throughout.
- What you owe is recorded against the account, the device and, for a card payment, the card, so that it is not avoided by signing in with a different address or reinstalling the App. It is kept for this purpose only, for about 13 months, as the privacy policy sets out.
- If credits are used and then refunded more than once, we may refuse further purchases from that account, device or card. On Google Play such a purchase is refused before any credits are given, so Google refunds it automatically and you are not charged for it.
- We pay refunds within 30 days, to the payment method you used, and remove the refunded credits.
- If a fault on our side used a credit without giving you a result, tell us and we will give the credit back.
- If we stop offering the Identify feature, we will tell you at least 30 days beforehand where we can, and refund the unused credits you paid for.
- Nothing in these Terms takes away a right to cancel or to a refund that you have under the Consumer Protection Act or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
How to ask for a refund
Bought on the website (paid by card through Paystack):
- Email trackiddeck@gmail.com from, or mentioning, the email address you sign in with on trackidentify.com.
- Include the date you paid and, if you have it, the reference on your Paystack receipt email.
- The money goes back to the same card within 30 days (usually 5 to 10 working days, depending on your bank).
Bought in the Android app (paid through Google Play):
- Within 48 hours of buying, you can ask Google directly: open play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory, find the Track ID Deck purchase and choose Request a refund.
- After 48 hours, or if Google says no, email trackiddeck@gmail.com with the email address or device ID the credits are on (the App shows both under Settings → Account), the date you bought them and the order number from Google’s receipt (it starts with GPA.).
Either way, the credits from the refunded purchase are removed from your account.
8. Using the App lawfully
Use the App and the website only with audio you are legally entitled to have and use — for example, music you bought, or received with the rights holder’s permission. You are responsible for making sure that what you copy, rename, share or send for identification is lawful. Renaming a file gives you no rights in the recording. You must not use the App or the website to obtain or spread infringing copies, to remove rights-management information from recordings, or for any other unlawful purpose. The App’s share feature sends files where you direct it; we do not see or check what you share.
If we reasonably believe you have broken this section, we may suspend or end your access to the paid features. If we do, we will refund the unused credits you paid for, unless they were bought fraudulently. We act on valid complaints from rights holders and on lawful requests from authorities. To raise a copyright concern, email trackiddeck@gmail.com.
9. Services we rely on
Identification relies on AudD, a music-recognition service, signing in with Google relies on Google, and payments rely on Google Play and Paystack. We choose these providers with care, but we do not control them and cannot promise they will always be available. Do not send recordings that contain private, confidential or personal information for identification. The Privacy Policy explains what is sent to whom, and what is kept.
10. Our responsibility to you
We provide the App and the website with reasonable care and skill. Apart from that, and from any guarantee the law gives you that cannot be excluded, we do not promise that they will always be available, free of errors, or work on every device.
As far as the law allows:
- we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost opportunities; and
- our total responsibility to you for any claim connected with the App or the website is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or R500.
None of these limits apply to loss caused by our gross negligence, deliberate wrongdoing or fraud, to death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or to any responsibility the law does not allow us to limit.
11. If you misuse the App
If someone makes a claim against us because you used the App or the website unlawfully or broke these Terms — for example, a copyright claim over files you shared — you agree to cover the reasonable costs, including legal costs, that we incur because of it. This does not apply to the extent that the claim was caused by our own fault.
12. Changes to these Terms and to the service
We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change affects you, we will show you the new Terms in the App, and publish them on the website, before the change applies to you, and the App will ask you to agree again. We may also change features of the App or the website; if we stop offering the Identify feature, section 7 applies.
13. Complaints, and the law that applies
If something goes wrong, email us first at trackiddeck@gmail.com and we will try to put it right. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you can contact the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud or the National Consumer Commission.
These Terms are governed by South African law. Nothing in them takes away rights you have under South African consumer law, including the Consumer Protection Act and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, or under the consumer-protection laws where you live.
